ISC19 Preview: HPC Community in Focus

ISC is a great point for our team to take time away from the day-to-day to spend some time talking about what we’ve been working on these past few months here at Alces Flight. Focusing primarily on the HPC Community, we’ll be taking in our latest research, providing our insight into a Birds of a Feather (BoF) session, and working with Women in HPC to mentor and promote diversity and inclusion in technology. Read on for a day-by-day list of where we will be and what we will be up to!

June 17 to June 19, 2019 —Project Poster: The movement towards HPC inclusivity

Now in the main session, we are pleased to be displaying our poster amongst the latest research in High Performance Computing. Running from Monday to Wednesday, we’re covering the balance public cloud can bring to solutions ranging from just starting to mature, looking at spending spreads in public cloud adoption, and discussing our latest spin off into open source. In short, highlighting the last six months of research and development done at Alces! Live project poster presentations are taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 3:15 PM. Please come join us, ask questions, and listen to what others are up to in HPC.

June 19, 2019 — Birds of a Feather: Personalised Medicine and the HPC Industry

Now in its second year, this BoF brings together the people working on the cutting edge of medicine to discuss how HPC helps (and sometimes hinders) the process. This BoF is ideal if you are focused in science surrounding large-scale simulations, working with data in the cloud, and wanting to meet those who are pushing boundaries on medicine tailored to the individual. We’ll be there to support the team, who affiliate with the CompBioMed Centre of Excellence, with our insight into public cloud HPC capabilities.

June 19 to June 20, 2019- Women in HPC (WHPC): Mentorship, Diversity Day, and Workshop Support

We are happy to announce that our team is working with some up and coming women in STEM this ISC19 to promote diversity and inclusion within HPC. WHPC will be hosting a poster session on Wednesday, June 19th, right near our project poster to showcase the work all these women do, followed by an all-day celebration of diversity at ISC. We are happy to be supporting these efforts and will also be lending a hand to WHPC’s 10th Annual Workshop on June 20th. The posters are included in the main session and exhibitor pass, however, workshop passes need to be purchased separately.

So, that’s what we’re up to! We’ll be keeping everyone updated on our Twitter feed and posting a re-cap of all we’ve learned post event. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Wait, there’s more...
