Alces Flight at SC24: Launching Supercomputing by Subscription

SC24 in Atlanta was an unforgettable experience, the flight crew joined over 18,000 attendees to explore the future of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). From the launch of Supercomputing by Subscription to our exciting giveaways and community engagement, here’s a look back at our highlights from this year’s conference.

Supercomputing by Subscription

One of the major announcements from Alces Flight as SC24 was the launch of Supercomputing by Subscription — a revolutionary platform designed to make managing HPC and AI systems easier, more accessible, and cost-effective.

From on-premises hardware to the cloud, our subscription-based model offers a modular series of components, allowing you to build a solution tailored to your organisation’s unique needs.

Supercomputing by Subscription simplifies the complexity of deploying and managing HPC and AI systems. With tools that enhance performance, control budgets, and help monitor and reduce your carbon footprint, we make advanced computing more manageable. Need applications and toolsets? They’re ready out-of-the-box, so your teams can focus on what matters most—research and innovation.

Giveaways and Fun at Our Booth

Our booth was buzzing with activity, with attendees stopping by to check out our demos, learn about our platform, and grab some awesome SWAG! We brought back some of the SC attendee’s favourite items, including plush moose, stickers, wristbands and pins. Those who visited our booth also had the opportunity to solve an HPC/AI themed crossworld puzzle and participate in a raffle for exciting prizes.

WHPC Workshop and Networking Reception

We were proud to support the Women in High-Performance Computing (WHPC) workshop and networking reception during the conference. On Monday, November 18th, we participated in the workshop, and on Tuesday, November 19th, we organised the networking reception. These events are vital to promoting diversity and inclusion in the HPC sector, and we’re honoured to be part of this initiative.

Supporting underrepresented groups in HPC is important to us, and we look forward to continuing our efforts in this space.

Partner Talks: Advancing Equity in HPC

On Wednesday, November 20th, we joined our partner Google Cloud at their booth to share updates on our joint project with Women in HPC (WHPC), Move the Needle. This initiative explores equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDIA) in supercomputing. The project’s final milestone will be presented at CIUK ‘24 in Manchester during the third WHPC breakfast
