Supercomputing 2019: What’s on for Alces Flight

We’re officially exhibiting at SC’19 in Denver. Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of where we are, what we’re up to, and how you can get certified in our latest open-source toolset.

We’re now less than a month to go to our first-ever exhibition at Supercomputing 2019! We are packing our entire spectrum of offerings — with something for everyone to benefit from. Here’s how it’s looking each day:

Sunday, November 17th: Women in HPC + Male Allies Workshop

We’ve been volunteers for WHPC for a few years now, and this year we’ve become Diversity Amplifiers for their week of activities! This workshop, which starts at 9:00 AM, will be covering everything from leadership, career tips, engaging with male allies, to project talks and mentorship. If you want to learn more about how to get around blindspots, embrace inclusivity, and hear the membership talk about their work — this is the workshop for you.

Monday, November 18th: Opening Gala

Our first booth! Join us from 7:00 PM at booth #1589 as we kick-off our week of exhibition at Supercomputing. We’re bringing our open-source HPC stack, OpenFlightHPC, for you to get certified on — so slide on up, grab a laptop, and join bootcamp. Want to know how OpenFlightHPC has operated in the real world? Our poster or HPC Impact session are right for you. Hear, see, and experience how Alces Flight is moving forward with open-source, making agile managed services possible regardless of platform.

Tuesday, November 19th: Poster Launch and Diversity Day!

Our research poster gets itself a proper unveiling in Concourse E on Tuesday. Don’t have a technical badge? Don’t worry! We’ve got mini-posters on hand at booth #1589.

Tuesday is also Diversity Day! We are celebrating with Women in HPC how far we’ve come in making HPC open to everyone, and building the path for more inclusivity going forward.

Thursday, November 21st: HPC Impact Showcase

We’ve been collaborating with the University of Liverpool on their HPC Barkla Cluster for over two years — and at this HPC Impact Showcase we’ll be talking about our mission critical work in creating a virtual, or cloud Barkla, while moving their on-premises system into its new home. This complex project was brought about through excellent teamwork with the Advanced Compute Facilities, whose pioneering work with hybrid managed services and Alces Flight made it all possible.

So that’s what we’re up to in a nutshell. We’ll be live tweeting throughout conference as well as working the social feed for WHPC. Look forward to seeing you in Denver!

Wait, there’s more...
